The United Methodist Foundation of Louisiana marked its 49th anniversary of dedicated service to the United Methodist Church with a celebration themed “Rooted Together, Growing Forward.”
The event was held April 16 at the Lod Cook Alumni Center at LSU in Baton Rouge, bringing together over 60 guests, community leaders and Louisiana pastors.
Just before the luncheon, the foundation’s board convened to elect three new board members and honor a distinguished leader. The foundation welcomed Amy Cochran, a member of St. Francisville United Methodist Church; the Rev. Mimi McDowell, who serves at Noel Memorial United Methodist Church in Shreveport; and Sen. Willie Mount, a member of First United Methodist Church in Lake Charles, each set to begin a three-year term on the board.
The Foundation recognized L. Nettles Brown, a member of First United Methodist Church of Natchitoches, for his 13 years of dedicated service to the board, including a term as chair from 2016 to 2018.
