At Louisiana Nursery, 2023 was not only a celebration of our 40th anniversary as a company. It was also a year of planning, reevaluation and implementing change. From entry-level staff members to our executive team, we were determined to get as much input as possible on how to make the next 40 years even better. Throughout these conversations, two key themes emerged: community involvement and education.
Those themes have now begun to come to fruition in the form of Louisiana Nursery’s newest initiative: free monthly in-person events designed to connect, educate and inspire.
The next event in this series, “Pollinators & Butterfly Gardens” will take place from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday, April 2 at Louisiana Nursery’s Prairieville location on La. 42. Isabelle Morgan, insectarium horticulturist of the Audubon Nature Institute, will explain the symbiotic relationship between plants and pollinators, how they have co-evolved, and what gardeners can do to bring beautiful butterflies into their own backyards.
In particular, Morgan will talk about what it means to plan and plant a garden with a pollinator-first mindset, how to use more native plants and practice companion planting, and how gardeners can help pollinators thrive. You can register online at https://louisiananursery.com/event/butterflies-pollinator-gardens-isabelle-morgan/. Remember, every event in this series is free!

The timing for this in-person seminar series couldn’t be better. Over the past few years, more people than ever have become avid gardeners. Even niche interests like rare houseplants, pollinator-friendly landscapes, organic gardening, homesteading and more have rocketed into the mainstream. In my opinion, the months of isolation brought about by the pandemic made more people crave nature, the outdoors and community. We continue to see this impact, whether it’s college students adding to their succulent collections, suburban families creating edible gardens, or retirees who have rediscovered a love for flowers and landscaping. The list goes on, but seems everyone has caught the gardening bug!
Louisiana Nursery’s newest event series is designed to celebrate that renewed interest and give customers the education and tools they need to be a successful gardener. We’ll bring in academics, master gardeners and members of botanical societies to join our lead expert staff members to discuss a particular topic on the first Tuesday of each month. It’s our way to say thank you for your support over the years. We want to help everyone from beginners to veterans to foster a true garden club community filled with education, beauty and thriving natural life!
The Louisiana Nursery Garden Club is a great way to reward our customers for shopping with us. Plus, you’ll get access to our weekly newsletter full of pro tips and all our specials. Visit www.louisiananursery.com/garden-club to sign up today.
