At least one tornado touched down in Hancock County on Wednesday and moved through several Mississippi Coast cities.

The tornado was confirmed at 10:25 a.m. near NASA's Stennis Space Center, which is close to the Mississippi-Louisiana state line.

The twister moved quickly through Hancock County, traveling northeast at 40 mph and causing tree and wind damage in Diamondhead and Pass Christian, according to the NWS damage report.

In the Kiln, a possible tornado downed power lines and trees along Highway 603, Hancock County Emergency Manager Brian "Hootie" Adam told the Sun Herald

Some homes along the highway between Kiln-Delisle and Firetower roads had minor damage. No injuries were reported, according to the Sun Herald.

The damage in Mississippi occurred as severe weather pounded the Gulf Coast region and left streets flooded and impassable in New Orleans
