The Louisiana Department of Education recently announced its 2024 Exemplary Educators.

Two of the 16 educators selected for this honor are part of the East Feliciana public schools family: Amber Hopkins, pre-K teacher at Slaughter Elementary School, and Kimberly Coats, fourth to eighth grade literacy coach for East Feliciana public schools.

The Exemplary Educator Recognition Program is designed to celebrate early- to mid-career educators with exceptional educational talent, exemplary educational accomplishments and leadership, engaging and inspiring presence, and strong long-range potential for policy and professional leadership.

Since the Education Department implemented the program in 2022, five East Feliciana public schools educators have been honored, more than any other district in the state.
