LASM eclipse viewing
The Louisiana Art & Science Museum, 100 S. River Road, will host a "Solar Eclipse Sidewalk Viewing" from noon to 3 p.m. Monday, April 8, in the Yazoo Plaza.
The total solar eclipse taking place on April 8 will be Baton Rouge’s last chance to view a solar eclipse in the U.S. until Aug. 23, 2044, with the solar eclipse peaking at an 87% eclipse of the sun at 1:48 p.m.
The planetarium team will provide downtown Baton Rouge viewers with a solar eclipse-filtered telescope, solar eclipse-filtered binoculars, and will have a limited supply of solar viewing glasses available for purchase at $2 each while supplies last.
With the recent March Equinox starting the spring season, the museum's Irene W. Pennington Planetarium will feature its newest installment of "The Sky Tonight" before select planetarium shows throughout the next several months, where visitors can learn more about our upcoming solar eclipse on April 8.
