The head baseball coach at Walker High School has been arrested for allegedly misappropriating thousands of dollars in school funds, Livingston Parish Sheriff Jason Ard said Thursday.
According to Ard, Nicholas Scelfo submitted multiple reimbursement invoices totaling $29,360.21 in September 2023 for baseball equipment he claimed to purchase with his own funds.
At the end of the 2024 baseball season, Walker High officials conducted an equipment inventory and discovered the equipment Scelfo was reimbursed for did not exist, Ard said. The vendors were contacted and confirmed Scelfo never placed any orders and the order numbers did not exist.
"Upon further analysis, the invoices were determined to be fraudulent and believed to be created by Scelfo in order to misappropriate funds from Walker High School," Ard said.
Scelfo was arrested and booked into the Livingston Parish Detention Center on a count of felony theft in excess of $25,000.
