Three Lafayette Parish elementary schools — Carencro "Bob" Lilly, Broadmoor and Prairie — will receive new principals.

Elizabeth Sinegal will lead Bob Lilly, Tracy Sanders will lead Broadmoor and Catherine Bricelj will lead Prairie, Lafayette Parish Schools System spokesperson Amanda Blanco said in a news release Friday.

Sinegal takes over after Alysia Messa, who served as the principal at Bob Lilly for six years, was named the principal of J.W. Faulk Elementary School.

Sinegal, was serving as an assistant principal at Katharine Drexel Elementary School. She previously taught at elementary school in Acadia Parish and at Ossun Elementary School in Lafayette Parish. She also served as an assistant principal in Vermilion Parish and at Ossun.

She has a bachelor's in elementary education from the University of Louisiana at Lafayette and a master's in educational leadership from McNeese State University.

"Liz Sinegal is a leader that brings passion to our Carencro community," LPSS Superintendent Francis Touchet Jr. said in a statement. "She will no doubt have an open-door policy involving all."

Sanders, who will lead Broadmoor, has been an educator for more than 17 years. She has taught and served as a librarian within the district.

She served as assistant principal at Ernest Gallet Elementary before being appointed as acting principal at Broadmoor.

She has a bachelor's in elementary education, certification as a library and media specialist and a master's in educational leadership.

"Tracy Sanders is the right fit for our Broadmoor community," Touchet said in a statement. "She will engage the community and create a culture of excellence moving forward.

Bricejl replcaes Cayce Clement Otwell, who served as Prairie's principal for 11 years and was tapped earlier this spring to lead Dr. Raphael A. Baranco Elementary.

Bricejl has been serving as the principal of Myrtle Place Elementary since 2017. While leading the school, it was recognized with a Blue Ribbon Schools of Excellence award.

Bricejl, who is from Belgium, has been an educator for more than 23 years. She served as a French language teacher in Ruston, Louisiana, and at Prairie Elementary. She has served in leadership roles at a charter school in New Orleans.

“Catherine Bricelj brings proven leadership to the Prairie community," Touchet said in a statement. "Her commitment to educational growth is evident from her past principal tenure."
