Baton Rouge has a real problem that is attacking our trees. Ball moss started collecting on crepe myrtle trees in downtown Baton Rouge a few years ago. While ball moss only attaches to the tree, it eventually covers so much of the tree that it cuts off sunlight and the tree dies. It can be found on most of the crepe myrtle trees downtown, at the airport and now at LSU. It is now attaching itself to our live oak trees as well as other trees. Baton Rouge spent considerable money to plant trees around town and along the interstate, and they are now in danger of being killed. There seems to be solutions available to this problem if we act now before more damage is done. What is Baton Rouge (and maybe LSU) doing to solve this problem?
