The Barber of Seville

At LSU Vet Med

The LSU School of Veterinary Medicine, Skip Bertman Drive, is showing "The Art of Pritam Singh," an exhibition of 36 watercolor paintings through May 3 in the school's library. 

Singh, a veterinarian in the PAVE program at LSU Vet Med, is a self-taught artist. PAVE is the Program for the Assessment of Veterinary Education Equivalence and is a pathway for veterinarians who are international graduates to practice in the United States and Canada.

Admission is free.

Talking Bones

You Aren’t Alone

The You Aren't Alone Project, a Baton Rouge-based nonprofit, will host its fourth annual "You Aren't Alone Live Art Event" in celebration of Mental Health Month from 7 p.m. to  10 p.m. on Friday, May 3, at Gallery 14, 210 S. 14th St. Suite D.

Tickets are $40 and include exclusive event access to powerful performances and awe-inspiring visual art exhibits, many of which will be available for auction, along with free food and beverages. Mental health and wellness vendors will be on-site to provide additional resources.

Call for submissions

The deadline is May 13 for submissions to the 54th annual River Road Show, sponsored by the Art Guild of Louisiana. This national juried show attracts artists from all over the United States with cash and merchandise awards in excess of $4,000. The exhibit, which is free and open to the public, will be at the Louisiana State Archives gallery, 3851 Essen Lane, from Aug. 3 to Sept. 16.

Tatting workshop

Registration is open for West Baton Rouge Museum's series of tatting workshops led by Louisiana artist, Christy Benoit Castille.

Beginner Shuttle Tatting will be from 10 a.m. to noon Tuesday May 8. Simple Edging will be taught from 10 a.m. to noon Wednesday, May 22. Space is limited, and advanced registration is required by calling the West Baton Rouge Museum at (225)336-2422. The cost is $30. Payment may be mailed in or paid in person by cash, check or credit card.
