Tickets are on sale for the Baton Rouge Symphony Orchestra's next "Concert with Candles" celebrating Disney movie soundtracks at 6:30 p.m. and 8:30 p.m. on Thursday and Friday, April 18-19, in the Virginia and John Noland Black Box Studio at the Cary Saurage Community Arts Center, 233 St. Ferdinand St. Each concert is limited to 75 tickets, which are $35-$45. Call for submissions
The deadline is May 13 for submissions to the 54th annual River Road Show, sponsored by the Art Guild of Louisiana. This national juried show attracts artists from all over the United States with cash and merchandise awards in excess of $4,000. The exhibit, which is free and open to the public, will be at the Louisiana State Archives gallery, 3851 Essen Lane, from Aug. 3 to Sept. 16.

Opera at LSU
Tickets are on sale for LSU's Turner-Fischer Center for Opera's production of "La Casa de Bernardo Alba" on Friday and Sunday, April 19 and 21, in the Shaver Theatre in the LSU Music and Dramatic Arts Building, Dalrymple Drive.

In Pointe Coupee
The deadline is April 19 for submissions to the Arts Council of Pointe Coupee's 14th "Treasures of Pointe Coupee" exhibit, opening May 31 in the Poydras Center, 500 W. Main St., New Roads. "Treasures" showcases original artwork by local and regional artists who submit two- and three-dimensional pieces.
This year's curator is Brandon Surtain, a native New Orleanian who attended graduate school at Tulane University, where he received master's of architecture and master’s of sustainable real estate development degrees. He received his bachelor of fine art from LSU, with a concentration in painting and drawing. He also was a member of the LSU football team.
