One of the biggest storylines in Major League Baseball this season is about a player who has yet to make it there.
Former LSU ace and College World Series champion Paul Skenes has not thrown a pitch in MLB, but his dominance to start this season for the Indianapolis Indians — the Triple-A affiliate of the Pittsburgh Pirates — has left many wondering why the Pirates haven't called Skenes up to the show.
So how unhittable has Skenes been in the minors this spring? And how have his former LSU teammates, including Dylan Crews, performed so far this season as well?
Here's a look at how last year's national champions are performing in the minor leagues.
Paul Skenes
In 23 innings this season, Skenes has a 0.39 ERA in six starts. He has struck out a whopping 41 batters with just six walks.
For reasons mysterious to some, his dominance has mostly come in short spurts and on elongated rest.
Skenes did not throw more than 3⅓ innings in an outing until his fifth start of the year. He didn't finish the sixth inning until his last start on Tuesday when he threw six scoreless innings (75 pitches) against the Buffalo Bisons.
He also has had six days of rest in between starts, longer than the typical four to five days major league starters are afforded in between outings. That will change Sunday when Skenes will start on four days' rest.

Dylan Crews
Heading into Saturday, Crews had two home runs in 14 games for the Harrisburg Senators this spring, the Washington Nationals' Double-A affiliate. He also has a .706 on-base plus slugging percentage (OPS) and ripped a double and a triple against the Altoona Curve on Thursday.
The former LSU center fielder missed eight games last month because of a hamstring injury, but he returned to the lineup on April 27 and hit a single. But strikeouts have been a problem for him to start this season as he already has 22 in 56 at-bats.
Tre Morgan
Morgan has gotten off to a strong start in his first full season of professional baseball, posting an .866 OPS and .393 on-base percentage (OBP) heading into the Charleston RiverDogs' game Saturday against the Augusta GreenJackets.
Charleston is the Single-A affiliate for the Tampa Bay Rays.
