Carnival Cruise Line has been sailing out of New Orleans for 30 years, and the company is celebrating with a big party and more chances to take a vacation this year.
Just before sunrise, Carnival Liberty stopped at the Port of New Orleans for the anniversary party. Famous restaurant owner and chef Emeril Lagasse, who is cutting the anniversary cake, will join the executives of Carnival Cruise Line at 11 a.m. to celebrate the cruise line's long-standing relationship with the city.
"We're just appreciative of the great partnership we have in New Orleans," Matt Lupoli, spokesperson for Carnival, said Monday. "We have sailed nearly 7 million people from New Orleans, and it's been a great 30 years. We're looking forward to continued success here."
Liberty and Valor will sail year-round from New Orleans' port, offering trips to beach destinations in the Western and Eastern Caribbean.
Cruise tickets for trips in May are now sold out, and the next available dates to board Liberty and Valor are in June. During the first week of the month, Valor will set sail from New Orleans for a four-day exertion to Cozumel.
Carnival is offering Western Caribbean cruises on the Liberty in the last weeks of June, including a seven day-long voyage to Mahogany Bay, Belize and Conzumel.

Since its first year-long cruise from New Orleans in 1994, Carnival has been the top cruise operator in the city. Every year, the cruise line boards around 400,000 or more guests from New Orleans.
