The Port Hudson State Historic Site Reenactment is March 23-24.

The Friends of Port Hudson group announced the schedule for the reenactment.

To join the friends group, contact foph@att.net or (225) 937-2782. Standard membership is $25, charter membership is $50, family membership is $80. Memberships are due by July 1 each year.

The site is at 236 U.S. 61, Jackson. Admission fees are $4 per person. Entry is free for adults 62 and older and for children 3 and under.

Saturday, March 23

9 a.m.: Park opens

10 a.m.: Code of the duel

10:30 a.m.: Musket demonstration

11 a.m.: Artillery demonstration

Noon: Civil War dance class

1 p.m.: Gunboat demonstration

2 p.m.: Battle reenactment

3 p.m.: Medical demonstration

3:30 p.m.: Town ball game – a bat and ball game played at the time – a precursor to modern baseball

5 p.m.: Park closes 

Sunday, March 24

9 a.m.: Park opens

10 a.m.: Reenactors church service

11 a.m.: Code of the duel

11:30 a.m.: Musket demonstration

Noon: Artillery demonstration

1:30 p.m.: Battle reenactment

2:30 p.m.: Medical demonstration

3:30 p.m.: Gunboat demonstration

5 p.m.: Park closes
