In a time when blood and tears flow in our cities and towns in Louisiana, how can our government officials and system be so compromised, broken and confused to allow 18-year-olds and older to carry guns without permits?
Can violence be solved by violence? What about the 5-year-old children and innocent bystanders on the streets, in schools and in homes who will be caught in the crossfire?
In a state where there is little health care for the mentally sick, food prices are extremely high and mothers and grandmothers are working three jobs because pay is so low, where is the outrage from our government, citizens and church leaders to change a corrupt system?
Yet from the cross, an innocent nonviolent man cries out, ”Father forgive them, for they know not what they do."
Let us hope for a new way to end violence and bring peace to our state.
