UL pitcher Sam Landry (12) threw a 1-hitter to lead the Ragin' Cajuns to a tight 1-0 win over ULM on Saturday to wrap up the outright Sun Belt regular season crown.

UL pitcher Sam Landry has found a groove in Monroe.

One day after a tremendous relief performance from Landry helped the Ragin' Cajuns win the first game of UL’s Sun Belt road series against UL-Monroe, the junior right-hander tossed a one-hitter in a 1-0 win over the Warhawks Saturday.

The victory clinched the outright Sun Belt regular-season title for the Ragin’ Cajuns for the fifth consecutive season. It also was the 88th consecutive Sun Belt series win for UL.

The Cajuns are now 37-15 overall and 19-1 in league play heading into Sunday’s series finale at noon. UL-Monroe dropped to 28-22 and 9-11.

Landry walked one and struck out two in the shutout to move to 20-7 on the season.

The Cajuns mounted their only rally in the second inning. Sam Roe walked and stole second, but she had to leave the game with an injury after getting there. Laney Credeur then doubled to drive in the game's only run.

There was quite a bit more action in the Cajuns’ win in Friday’s opener.

With UL trailing by a run in the sixth inning, catcher Victoria Valdez slammed a solo home run to tie it and Brooke Ellestad followed with a game-winning home run in the seventh to claim a 5-4 win.

Roe actually began the home run parade with a solo shot in the second. In the third, Maddie Hayden sparked a two-run frame for a 3-0 Cajuns lead with an RBI single.

It wouldn’t be easy, though. UL starter Chloe Riassetto gave up four runs and six hits in the third inning. Riassetto didn’t get out of the third, finishing with four runs on seven hits with no walks or strikeouts in 2⅓ innings.

That’s when Landry’s big weekend began. She got the win after allowing no runs on three hits, no walks and striking out one in 4⅔ innings.
