An unidentified body was found in a Vermilion Parish canal near Kaplan on Friday.
A local farmer discovered the male body in a canal off of West Liberty Farm Road, about 6 miles south of Kaplan, according to a Vermilion Parish Sheriff's Office announcement.
Vermilion Parish Forensics is conducting an autopsy to determine how the man died.
The investigation is ongoing.
