The recent reversal of Louisiana's criminal justice reform is concerning. We need a clear pathway forward that ensures ongoing change and holds our governor and Legislature accountable.

Direct community involvement through education, organization and action is crucial for building a strong base for change. Philanthropists and businesses should support grassroots groups and encourage their formation to actively engage in change efforts.

Crime affects every parish in Louisiana, yet programs addressing issues like domestic violence are threatened with cuts, despite increasing rates of domestic homicides. These crimes, often occurring within families, contribute to rising suicide rates.

Supporters must recognize their role in fostering grassroots advocacy for long-term solutions prioritizing community safety. Partnering with grassroots groups and fostering new ones are essential steps for meaningful change.

We urge those with means to support community organizing, enabling residents to voice concerns and sustain grassroots groups committed to long-term change. Together, we can build safer communities and prioritize crime prevention.
