Spring festival set
The Zachary High Ag Spring Fest is 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, March 30.
Photos with the Easter bunny are from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Games, petting zoo, face painting, ag crafts, Easter egg hunts and more are available. Attendees can shop for concessions and in the Ag greenhouse.
Costs: Adults and ages 12 and up, $5; ages 2-12, $2; under 2, free
Easter Bunny available for those with disabilities
Children and adults with disabilities are invited to join BREC staffers for activities and pictures with the Easter Bunny, while avoiding long wait times.
Arts and crafts, snacks, games and Easter Bunny photos will be available.
The Bunny Trail is from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday, March 31 at BREC’s Zachary Community Park, 2005 Old Scenic Highway. The event is free-for-all ages with cognitive and sensory processing disorders.

Library holiday closings
All locations of the East Baton Rouge Parish Library will close March 29 and March 31 in observance of Good Friday and Easter Sunday.
History Festival set
Pride-Chaneyville Branch Library is holding its 14th annual Community History Festival from 10 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. April 27. The theme is High School Reunion-Cheers to Every 10 Years. The free event features country fun, food, games, crafts, music and entertainment. Various artists, craftsmen and vendors. Apply for special camps
The summer of 2024 will mark the beginning of the 66th year of operation of the Louisiana Lions Camp, six miles north of Leesville on 185 acres of piney woodlands.
For people from the Zachary area, sessions include:
- One-week session for Youth with pulmonary disorders ages 5-15, May 26 to June 1 (These applications will be assigned by the LPDCI, Lions Camp Pelican). Visit www.camppelican.org to register.
- One week session Camp Challenge, for 6-14 youth with hematology/oncology, cancer and sickle cell disorders, July 14 to July 20. Visit www.campchallenge.org to register.

- One-week session for the mentally challenged ages 8-19, from June 9-15.
- One-week session for visual, hearing and orthopedically impaired youth ages 7-19 from June 30 to July 6.
- One-week session for youth with diabetes ages 6-10, from July 7-13.
The children participate in a full range of activities, including swimming, arts and crafts, archery, air rifle, sports, fishing and outdoor fun. There is no cost to the parents for the campers’ stay. All requests for summer camp are handled locally by Lions. Each applicant requires Lion sponsorship.

Help feed Zachary
The Zachary Food Pantry recently asked for some specific donations to help people in need in the community.
Suggested donations include grape and strawberry jelly; 2-pound bags of sugar, self-rising flour or cornmeal; stuffing mix; cornbread mix; breakfast cereal; quick grits; oatmeal; bread and other bakery items; cake mix; brownie mix; macaroni and cheese; mayonnaise, ketchup or mustard; orange, apple or grape juices; Ensure; baby formula and baby food; crackers, individual bags of chips; snack size packages of cookies; popcorn; fruit snacks; granola bars; small packs of nuts; and trail mix bags.
Donations do not have to be from this list. Items except for baby formula, baby food and Ensure, can be up to one year expired.
Shred documents for free
The Bank of Zachary will hold free Community Shred Days in April. Each event is from 9 a.m. to noon. April 6 at the Central Branch, 14395 Grand Settlement Blvd., Central; April 13 at the Watson Branch, 32340 La. 16, Watson; and April 13 at the Main Branch, 4743 Main. St., Zachary.
