LSU guard Mikaylah Williams (12) takes the court for the NCAA tournament second round game against Middle Tennessee on Sunday, March 24, 2024 at the Pete Maravich Assembly Center in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.

The LSU women's basketball team will visit Bossier City next season to face Grambling in a game billed as a homecoming for star guard Mikaylah Williams

The contest will be held on Dec. 8, 2024, at Brookshire Grocery Arena, a venue located a short drive from Parkway High School, where Williams played her prep basketball.

“We could not be more excited to bring LSU to Mikaylah’s hometown of Bossier City in December to play Grambling State,” coach Kim Mulkey said in a statement. “Mikaylah grew up there, and it is always special to be able to bring one of our players back to play in their hometown."

LSU scheduled a similar game during the 2023-2024 season, when it traveled to Angel Reese's hometown Baltimore to play a nonconference game against Coppin State. Under Mulkey, the Tigers have already played road games at UL, Tulane and Southeastern Louisiana.

Since Mulkey's been a head coach, her teams — either at Baylor or LSU — have yet to travel to North Louisiana. Mulkey played her college basketball and started her coaching career at Louisiana Tech in Ruston, roughly an hour east of where LSU and Grambling will play in December.

The LSU and Grambling women's basketball programs have met four times, most recently during the 2012-2013 season.

Williams is the reigning Southeastern Conference freshman of the year. As a freshman, she started 33 contests and scored 15 points per game while shooting 47% from the floor and 38% from 3-point range.

At Parkway, Williams was a McDonald's All-American, a two-time Louisiana Gatorade player of the year and an LHSAA Division I non-select state champion in 2023, her senior season.
