St. Martin Parish voters elected Pete Delcambre as parish president Saturday, replacing Chester Cedars who did not seek reelection.

Delcambre won with 56% of the vote while fellow Republican Dean LeBlanc garnered 44%.

In October, Delcambre walked away with 40% of the vote. While not enough to cross the 50% threshold, the results staged him as the popular pick among St. Martin Parish voters. Kevin J. Kately, a no party candidate and Village of Parks mayor, was eliminated from the race in October after who garnering 24% of the vote.

Delcambre is a lifelong resident of St. Martin Parish, his campaign website said. He served more than four years on the parish school board as maintenance and bond construction supervisor along with business owner and banking experience.

Delcambre will be taking over the role of current Parish President Chester Cedars, whose term ends in January. Cedars, a former prosecutor, took office as interim president in 2018 later running 2019 unopposed.
