Lafayette native Yungsheng Wang, a deputy public defender, will compete in "Jeopardy!: the Tournament of Champions" on Tuesday.

The show airs at 3 p.m. on KATC, Channel 3, in Lafayette and 4:30 p.m. on WBRZ, Channel 2, in Baton Rouge.

Wang, who now lives in Los Angeles, is a three-game champion and Season 37/38 champions wild-card winner. In the tournament, he joins "Jeopardy!" players who have won the most games since the last "Tournament of Champions" in 2022, plus six players who advanced out of the Season 37/38 and Season 39 champions wild-card competitions, as well as the winners of the "Jeopardy! High School Reunion Tournament" and Season 1 of “Celebrity Jeopardy!” on ABC.

These 27 players will compete across nine quarterfinal games, three semifinals and a “best of seven” finals series. The first champion to win three games will claim the $250,000 grand prize and an invitation to compete in the upcoming “Jeopardy! Masters” primetime event on ABC, according to a news release.

In Tuesday's game, Wang will compete alongside David Sibley, a four-game champion from Walla Walla, Washington; and Hannah Wilson, an eight-game champion, of Chicago.
