A suspect was arrested on a murder charge after a mother of four was stabbed to death in Hammond during a date Saturday afternoon, according to the Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff's Office.

Deputies responded to a report of a stabbing just after 2:30 p.m. on West Pleasant Ridge Road. They found Carol Allen, 31, of New Orleans, in the backseat of a car with multiple stab wounds.

Allen was transported to an area hospital, where she later died.

The suspect, Christopher Jerome Wilson, 25, of Hammond, was arrested in Natchitoches in connection to the killing.

Investigators found that Wilson and Allen were talking throughout the day of her death. The two planned the date and met in Hammond.

During their time together, Wilson attacked Allen in an attempt to steal her car. He proceeded to stab her multiple times before fleeting the scene on foot, according to the sheriff's department.

Before his arrest, Wilson called Natchitoches police to ask for assistance with low air in his bicycle tire. Officers took Wilson into custody after learning he was wanted in Tangipahoa Parish.

Wilson was charged with one count of first degree murder and armed robbery with knife. In the past he's faced a charge of domestic abuse battery, according to records.
