A 14-year-old is in custody, suspected of shooting a man during an argument Monday afternoon, a Baton Rouge police spokesman said.

Around 5:30 p.m. Monday, police responded to a shooting in the 3400 block of Clayton Drive. A man was found with gunshot wounds and taken to a hospital in critical condition, the spokesman said.

The 14-year-old boy was detained after detectives learned an argument broke out between the teenager and the man, the spokesman said. It is believed the 14-year-old obtained a gun and shot the man.

The 14-year-old and the man are possibly related, the spokesman said.
