West Feliciana community discussion on opioid epidemic
Local health care stakeholders are set to host the first “Listen & Learn About the Opioid Epidemic” at 6 p.m., May 7, at the West Feliciana Parish Library, 5114 Burnett Road, St. Francisville. This free event serves as an open forum for the community to discuss the local opioid epidemic, hear personal stories and experiences, and get connected to resources. It is hosted by the Louisiana Department of Health in collaboration with the Louisiana Primary Care Association, Louisiana Ambulance Alliance-End the Epidemic, the West Feliciana Prevention Coalition and the West Feliciana Parish Library.
Registration is free and open to all individuals interested in joining the conversation on addiction, recovery and community support.
Attendees will have the opportunity to gain insights from recovery services on the use of NARCAN and fentanyl test strips and connect with a wide range of resources to support recovery efforts.
Refreshments will be provided, and NARCAN will be available on-site for those who have registered.
Arts for All hosting concert

Change in OLLI session
OLLI at LSU Felicianas chapter is a coffee is May 7. Due to an illness, the speaker will now be OLLI member Rich Hirsch, a five-year volunteer at BREC's Baton Rouge Zoo. He will present several of the zoo's animal ambassadors. The meeting is at 10 a.m. at Fellowship Hall, First Baptist Church, 12404 La. 10, St. Francisville. Guests over age 50 are welcome. Guests age 50 and over are welcome.
Picnic planned on Solitude Road
A Community Give Back Picnic will be held May 25 at Jungle Inn, 7765 Solitude Road, St. Francisville. Entry and food are free. Adults will have smoked chicken and red beans. Kids will have hot dogs. Bring tents, lawn chairs, cooler and grills.
Donate your formal dresses
The Slaughter Civic Club is holding a dress drive, asking people to donate formal dresses for bridesmaids, prom or homecoming. The dresses will be sold at the Back to School Bash: long for $50 and short for $25. Money goes toward the beautification of the town, festivals and other community activities. Dresses can be dropped off at Town Hall on May 20 and June 11 from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. or contact Delaney at (225) 301-5734 or Adele at (225) 931-2470 for a special drop-off.
