A new readers choice awards is coming to Acadiana, launched by the local team at The Acadiana Advocate. We live and work here and we love celebrating the people and places — especially local businesses — that make Acadiana so special.
There are so many businesses and professionals who support, serve and do business in Lafayette and surrounding areas. The new Acadiana's Choice awards are an opportunity to give back to them.
Starting Monday, we invite our audience to join the celebration by nominating outstanding local establishments and professionals in more than 200 categories, from bowling to burgers to best place to have a baby.
"Our team is excited to launch the first year of Acadiana's Choice, a publicly voted contest that will celebrate the incredible businesses we have in our community," said Kevin Hall, president of The Advocate. "As the largest Louisiana-owned media company, we believe Acadiana’s Choice will shine the light on the thriving business community in Acadiana.”
Readers may nominate their favorite people and places in as many or as few categories as they like from May 6-17.
Nominating is as simple as entering a name and city. It’s even better if you can provide additional information — phone number, address or website — so we can verify the nominee.
Once all nominations are compiled, the community will have the opportunity to vote on them from June 3-21. All nominations and voting will be conducted exclusively online, with no paper ballots. You can nominate and cast votes at: VoteAcadiana.com.
In September, after votes are compiled, the winners will be announced in a special publication for the entire community to celebrate.
"It’s time to let Acadiana’s favorites be featured in front of the state’s largest audience," Hall said.
