I wanted to remind everyone of an important anniversary that recently passed. March 29, 1973 was the day when all U.S. ground troops departed Vietnam. They served their country honorably under challenging and difficult circumstances. Please don’t forget the more than 58,000 who gave their lives (881 from Louisiana) and the thousands more who were left with physical and emotional disabilities.
Finally, as an old Vietnam veteran, I know how easy it is for the public to want to forget and move on but, I wanted to make sure that we also never forget the more than 7,000 (146 from Louisiana) men and women who also honorably served their country, gave their lives and received numerous, disabling injuries in the global war on terror.
Please support the Fallen Heroes Memorial at the Southeast Louisiana Veterans Cemetery in Slidell and put all of our military men and women in your prayers today as they continue to “stand the watch” for our safety and freedom!
