ousted in NCAA semis
The No. 11 LSU beach volleyball team defeated No. 3 Stanford, 3-2, in a quarterfinal at the NCAA beach volleyball championship Saturday afternoon in Gulf Shores, Alabama, but the Tigers fell to No. 2 UCLA in the semifinals later in the day.
LSU beat Stanford on courts 2, 3 and 5 to send the Tigers to the semifinals. Aubrey O’Gorman and Ella Larkin started off the winning streak with a 21-18, 16-21, 16-14 win. Emily Meyer and Yali Ashush followed in their footsteps, winning 21-14, 17-21, 15-13. To clinch the upset, Reilly Allred and Parker Bracken earned an 18-21, 22-20, 24-22 win.
After a short break, LSU lost to UCLA, 3-1. The last time the Tigers were in the semifinals was 2021.
