Maggie Jayroe and Alexis Jones will lead the St. Amant High Class of 2024 May 9 during graduation ceremonies at The Pit.
Jayroe said she is honored to be graduating with the St. Amant High class of 2024 as valedictorian.
She is a member of the ACT 30+ club and accumulated AP scholar awards through various AP classes taken over the past four years.
"Not only was she dedicated to excellence inside the classroom, but she also maintained a love for giving back to her community," a news release from the school states.
Jayroe was a member of the St. Amant theater department, garnering supporting and leading roles in musicals and being involved in the Talented and Gifted Program.
Additionally, she devoted herself to serving as a leader in FCA. She serves on her local church’s worship team, leading from the platform as both a pianist and vocalist.
In the fall, she will be attending the University of Arkansas as a member of the honors college. She has declared a double major of political science and journalism with the intent of prelaw.
She thanked St. Amant High for the fond memories and immense impact it has had on her life as she awaits her next chapter, according to the release.
Jones is an honor graduate who will lead her class at St. Amant High School as salutatorian. In the Fall, she will be joining the Roger Hadfield Ogden Honors College at LSU to pursue her studies in biological engineering with a goal of becoming a prosthetist.
She has shown dedication to her studies throughout high school, both in and out of the classroom, and has developed a strong work ethic, according to a news release. Her academic record, especially in her various Advanced Placement and Dual Enrollment classes, has earned her the distinction of being an AP Scholar with Honors.
Throughout high school, she was a part of the Chick-fil-A Leadership Academy, Thespian Society and track and field team. Her outstanding performance in academics and track and field earned her the All-Academic Composite Women's Track and Field award. Additionally, she received an academic award for placing third in the district literary rally for environmental science. She also held numerous leadership positions in her extracurricular activities, including captain of the Gatorettes dance team, Gator-to-Gator mentor, Beta Vice president, Rho Kappa Vice President, and was an FCA Leader.
